Business Watch: Local businesses still need workers and it’s time to go to work. Benefits have ended. After many successful years, The Fat Lady shuttered and last week, Barrio Kitchen closed their doors. Local business owners and managers report they cannot continue without help. You can rely on the Bethel Business Association, its members or the county Chamber for advice. For NYS Small Business Grants: apply at (esd.ny.gov) or Nysmallbusinessrecovery.com.

Look for ‘BBA Socials’ in the near future at area restaurants and businesses to network and as a way to showcase and support them. Plan to attend these ‘getting to know you’ events, open to the public and BBA members.

It’s a great time to enjoy the local parks and lakes, make your mark on an area trek (Trailkeeper.org), or play a round of 18 at Swan Lake Golf. The solemn holiday of Yom Kippur is observed on the 16th. The Froggy Daze Festival at Lander’s Campground in Narrowsburg, with family camping, music and events, is planned for the 16-19th.

Ora’s Annual Yoga Retreat is scheduled for the weekend of the 17th. Registration is required for retreat/class: 516-527-6729.

The Monteleone’s share their first Greenhouse Gardens Open House in Eldred on the 18th at 8 am - 12noon. The Jeff Jamboree happens on Saturday at noon. The SC Volunteer Fire Parade will take place on the 18th from the Grahamsville Fairgrounds.

If you’re missing Stacy Cohen, catch her with the River Ramblers at the Cochecton Pump House on Saturday. Attend SC Chamber Orchestra’s “Art of the Quartet”, with cello, viola, and violins, at the HPACentre Ballroom on the 18th at 6pm (Advance tkts only: Hurleyvilleartscentre.org).

Bethel Woods Art of Wellness program presents ‘Sound Meditation’ with Marc Switco on the Field on the 19th at 10am.

Attend the Annual Bethel Woods Harvest Fest this Sunday from 11am-4pm. The Festival is free, but there’s a $5 parking fee. Enjoy weekly live music, food truck court, corn maze, a variety of crafts and over eighty regional vendors – including local farmers, artisans, homemade food makers, local spirits and specialty items.

Attend the Delaware Highlands Conservation ‘Back to Nature’ Celebration and fundraiser on the 19th. At 3:30pm- Tour the Van Scott Nature Reserve in Beach Lake, PA, 4:30-travel to the Inn at Woodloch and then enjoy lakeside dinner, auction, raffle cap and dessert. Bethel Woods presents ‘Lynard Skynyrd’ on the Pavilion Stage on Sunday night at 7pm. Watch our favorite local artist, Kim Simons, competing on Season 11 of Food Network’s ‘Halloween Wars’, airing Sunday, the 19th at 9pm.
