Charlotte A. Zupetz, 77, of Bloomingburg, New York went to be with our Lord on January 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her passing fulfills her wish of being reunited with the love of her life and husband of 60 years, John Zupetz Sr., who predeceased her just six months earlier.

Charlotte was born to Dorothy and Marvin ‘Bob’ Drake in Middletown, New York on July 19th, 1947. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Viola and Chris Locotell who gave her unconditional love and taught her to be generous with her time, talent and treasure.

Charlotte met John in 1963. They were married August 1st, 1964, settled in Middletown, New York and started their family. They were members of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, NY. Together, they demonstrated the importance of faith, love, family, and acts of kindness. Charlotte was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. As the family matriarch, she was the glue who held the family together, planning our holiday gatherings and weekend family dinners. She supported her children by being at every sporting event, academic awards ceremony and graduation. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasure, and she shared with them her hobbies of calligraphy, scrapbooking, gardening and bird feeding. Her favorite farewell at the end of a call or get-together was, “Love you to the moon and back!”

Over the span of her 40+ year career, Charlotte was an account clerk for the Times Herald Record, a recorder for the City of Middletown Courts, and a purchasing agent for KW Control Systems. But her most rewarding career move was joining Orange-Ulster BOCES where she became the Teacher Certification Officer. She found special joy in helping aspiring teachers understand and accelerate their certification process so they, in turn, could help shape the future of countless students. It was her way of doing God’s work and giving back.

In her retirement, Charlotte enjoyed golfing with John and spending summers at their seasonal campsite where they met new friends and tried new activities. Family cruises, land vacations, campfires and simply spending time with family and friends filled her remaining agenda. She was the love of our lives and will be deeply missed. Mom, we ‘Love you to the moon and back’!

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband John, by her parents and her grandparents who raised her, by her youngest sister Vicky Mae, and by her sister-in-law, Stella Pevear.

Survivors include her sons John Zupetz Jr. (wife Jennifer), and Michael Zupetz (wife Amy). Grandchildren Sarah Zupetz-LaBagh (husband Max), Zachary Zupetz, Jarod Zupetz, Colby Zupetz, Trevor Zupetz and, great-grandson Mack LaBagh. Siblings Debbie Pittenger (husband Carl), Donna Torch (partner Alex), Leon Drake (wife Ginnie) and Chris Drake (wife Linda). Sister-in law, Jane Harris, as well as several nieces and nephews and Charlotte and John’s lifelong friends, Butch and Janie Andryshak.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY 12790.
