Douglas R. Van Keuren (Duke) of Cochecton, NY, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Roscoe Nursing Home. He was 86.  The son of the late Alfred J. Van Keuren and Elanora Gabriel of Mongaup Valley, NY, he was born on August 6, 1938, in Monticello, NY.

He was employed by Coca Cola Bottling Company for 30 years and owned and operated Van Keuren Landscaping (Wake-Up Lawns) until 2015. 

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, bowler and softball player as well as a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and professional wrestling. He enjoyed attending the many sporting events of his children and grandchildren as well as sponsoring local sports teams. Douglas loved the annual Van Keuren Ice Fishing Contest, his poodles, penny socials, county fairs, auctions, and running his garage sale. His favorite gatherings were at his home with friends and family on Christmas Eve and his birthday.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Brenda, of 28 years, his loving children Cindy Moudry (Tim) of Houston, TX, Debra Reuss of Mongaup Valley, NY, Todd Van Keuren (Connie) of Parksville, NY and Joseph Van Keuren (Rebecca) of Liberty, NY, his grandchildren Corey Van Keuren (Alyssa), Chelsea Cunningham (Jeremy), Jenna Booth (Bo), Andrew Wyss (Ashlyn), Tiffany Potts (Blake), Taylor Van Keuren (Lauren), Sean Reuss (Shelby), Brandi Coleman (Justin), Cally Sudduth (Scott) and Morgan Van Keuren, great-grandchildren Shea, Rory, Avery, Maci, Eliana, Jaxon, Ella, Kilian, Ellis, Chase, Marina, Abel, Sadie, Walker and Lincoln. The mother of his children, Gloria Applegate, resides in Roscoe, NY.

He was predeceased by his infant son James Dean and brother Franklin Van Keuren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home, 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00pm with Rev. David Coon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Douglas’ name to the United Methodist Church of Mongaup Valley, NY.
