SULLIVAN COUNTY  — Election Day 2024 is only 32 days away.

Are you prepared to vote in the 2024 General Election? 

There are some important dates coming up for residents who want to vote, but are not registered – or who need an absentee ballot.

Saturday, October 26 is the last day for residents to register to vote to be able to vote in this year’s General Election.

If you can’t make it to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, there are many opportunities to ensure your ballot is cast.

Here in Sullivan County, early voting will begin on Saturday, October 26 and run until Sunday, November 3. There are two locations available – the Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello, or at Sullivan County Public Health, 50 Community Lane, Liberty.

Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, on Tuesday, October 29, and on Thursday, October 31, the polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

For those looking to vote on Election Day, November 5, polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 9 p..m.

Absentee ballot request forms can be found on the county BOE and the New York State BOE website. Requests must be put in no later than 10 days before the election, which is Oct. 26.

Who is on the ballot

The biggest race on this year’s ballot will be for President of the United States in which Vice-President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will take on former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump.

In the United State Senator race, incumbent Democrat Kirsten E. Gillbrand is being challenged by Michael D. Sapraicone, who is running on the Republican and Conservative lines and Diane Sare, who is on the LaRouche line.

For U.S. Congress, incumbent Republican candidate is Marcus Molinaro, who is being challenged by Democratic and Working Families candidate Josh Riley.

For State Senate, Rupublican incumbent Peter Oberacker is being challenged by Democrat Michele Frazier.

Oberacker also has the Conservative endorsement while Frazier is also on the Working Famlies line.

For State Assembly, Democratic candidate Paula Elaine Kay is running against Republican Louis J. Ingrassia, Jr.

Kay is also on the People Over Politics line and Ingrassia will also be on the Conservative line.

For Sullivan County Coroner, incumbents B. Elton J. Harris, Albee E. Bockman and Michael J. Speer are all running unopposed.

Locally, in the Town of Callicoon Ryan R. Bose is running unopposed for Highway Superintendent on the Republican line.

In the Town of Delaware, Eric J. Nystrom is running unopposed for Town Justice.

In the Town of Fallsburg Robert M. Scheinman is running unopposed for Town Justice.

In the Town of Highland Sonia Kidney is running against Gerard Finn for Town Council. Anthony C LaRuffa is running unopposed for Town Justice.

In the Town of Liberty, Bruce Davidson is running against Sherri Kavleski for Town Council

In the Town of Lumberland, Suzanne Edzenga is running unopposed for Supervisor and Ihor Lukiw is running unopposed for Town Council.

In the Village of Bloomingburg, Israel Fleischman is running unopposed for Mayor and Samuel Weingarten and Eliezer Weiss are running against each other for one trustee seat.

In the Town of Rockland, Karrie A. Jara is running unopposed for Town Justice.

And in the village of Woodridge, incumbent Mayor Joan Collins is being challenged by Louis Saperstein, Martin Rosenberger and Moshe Weinberg. David Maho is running unopposed for Village Justice. David Schlesinger, Alexander Pomansky, Ronald Kates and RoseMarie Van Etten are running for two trustee seats
