Elizabeth A. Kubenik, retired Dean of Administration at Sullivan County Community College, died on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at home. She was 68. The daughter of the late James and Edith Haines Hughes she was born in Manhattan, NY on October 27, 1951. She was married to Henry L. Kubenik.

Elizabeth was a member of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, Planned Parenthood and a member and past president of the Jeffersonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

She is survived by her husband Henry at home, her son Jared Kubenik and his wife Melissa, her grandchildren: Lila and Kevin Kubenik, her brother James Hughes and his wife Una, her sister-in-law Joanne Hughes, her extended family: her father and mother-in-law Henry and Anna Kubenik, sisters-in-law Anna Kubenik, Beatrice Erlwein and her husband Gary, and her brother-in-law Eric Kubenik and companion Aimee Andrews, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother William Hughes and by her sister-in-law Mary Anne Kubenik.

The Kubenik family would like to extend a special thank you to Elizabeth's caregivers Helena and Ray Ellen for the exceptional care afforded to her during her illness.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 30, from 2 to 4 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home with Father Ignatius Vu Officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be in place and everyone will be required to wear a face mask.
