Fallsburg looks towards ‘24

FALLSBURG—The Fallsburg Town Board started the new year with the swearing-in of Michael Bensimon as the new Town Supervisor. The meeting marked the beginning of a new chapter in Fallsburg’s history, with fresh additions to the Town Board.

Joining the board are Councilpersons Jeff Wiener and Nathan Steingart, Steingart having previous experience on the board. Returning members include Sean Wall-Carty and Miranda Behan. 

The courtroom in South Fallsburg was filled with residents and officials, including District 7 Legislator Joe Perrello and District 8 Legislator Amanda Ward.

During the official meeting, Bensimon appointed Nathan Steingart as Deputy Supervisor.

Key appointments during the meeting included Paula Grogan retaining her role as Fallsburg Town Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics, Tax Collector, FOIL and Records Management Officer. 

Kristen Doyle was named Deputy Town Clerk. Scott DuBois was reappointed as Town Comptroller, with Joanne Gerow serving as Dog Control Officer and Gregg Pitula as Town Code Enforcement Officer (Provisional). 

Tracey Lesczynski and Thalia Vargas were reappointed as Justice Court Clerks, and Jennifer Edwards assumed the role of Confidential Secretary to the Supervisor.

Additionally, Art Rosenshein and Rabbi Lawrence Zierler were reappointed as Chairman of the Planning Board and Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, respectively. 

Debra Wieder joined the Zoning Board of Appeals for a one-year term, and Gordon Gilbert continued as the Architectural Review Consultant.

Fallsburg’s Town Board meetings will be moving to Tuesdays instead of Mondays with the next meeting being January 23 at 6 p.m.
