Girls and boys golfers compete in Sectional tournament

HIGHLAND and KINGSTON — Golfers from throughout the region competed in Sectionals on Tuesday. The boys played at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston while the Girls took on Apple Greens in Highland.

Sectional golf is slightly different from the regular season as the student-athletes play a full round of 18 holes instead of the typical nine for a regular season match.

Despite the change, there were a handful of golfers from the county that went to represent their schools at the event.

From Tri-Valley, Misha Khodakovski scored a 92, which tied him for 34th place on the day.

From Livingston Manor, Gavin Thomas tied for 44th after scoring a 97.

The pair represented the only two boys from the county to compete at Sectionals this year.

For the girls, Monticello’s Abby Morse golfed a 99 at Apple Greens.

Livingston Manor Freshman Anastasia Niforatos golfed a 108 in her first trip to Sectionals.

Also from Livingston Manor, Sarah Evans golfed a 117.

Abby Morse was the only golfer to make it to the second round, where she golfed a 92 and finished 9th in the Section, earning a trip to States.
