Help wanted: Inquire within

s Mother’s Day approaches, a “help wanted” sign will be posted in the windows of many family homes. Beneath that sign, a letter will invite potential candidates to the necessary position, and it will read a little something like this:

“The newest career opportunity has just opened up for many around the county and the world – this position comes with some eye-catching rewards and staggering responsibilities. But first, let’s get to the important stuff.”

This position comes with a minimum of 18 years of contracted work. A daily regimen is to be kept to a T – unless faced with the risk of falling behind on other tasks. This position makes an astonishing salary of $0, but previous employees have noted it wasn’t the money that made the job worth it, but the memories. The best part about this job is that it can and will run in tandem with other employment opportunities – candidates for this position don’t let one job hold them down!

Regardless of adversity, those who hold this position are expected to be multifaceted, multitalented and have a level of patience higher than or equal to a saint. (Disclaimer: previous employees have reported that others within the company like to test the limits of that patience. Often.)

Bonus responsibilities are expected to be completed pro bono, which may include: driving other company employees to compete in soccer, football, basketball, etc., ensuring food appears on the table three times a day, picking out clothing and assisting with daily attire (including weekends, holidays, and scheduled days-off), repairing any household items, and more!

Please, inquire within, and let the magic of motherhood begin!”

Now, looking at the job description, many mothers may understand all too well that this position isn’t anything new for them. In fact, this describes well the work they already do for their families, their community and themselves. Motherhood is a full-time job, and we appreciate each and every one who places their world on their shoulders and makes it look easy.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Take Care this Weekend

On a more serious side note, one important aspect of being a mother is raising and rearing the youth of our communities. This weekend is Prom weekend, which invites great excitement, joy and memories for so many. But it also extends an arm out to danger, specifically for drinking and driving.

Parents, pass on good advice to those attending this momentous night in their young lives, and of course, please do not supply alcohol to minors. And if you see something, say something – the lives of our children could be at stake.
