Got nobody to blame except Punxsutawney Phil.
Somebody's got to get the blame this has been a winter of hell…the pandemic, cold weather which all the fuel companies love and now last week's blizzard and predictions of more snow.
Wow…we are having a real Northeast Winter, and Phil didn't make it any easier last Tuesday when he did his duties on Groundhog Day…didn't see his shadow…so there will be six more weeks of winter.
Members of Phil's ‘inner circle' noted the uniqueness of the past year.
The spectacle that is Groundhog Day still went on, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, revelers were not able to see Phil and celebrate in person. This year was all virtual and included cardboard cutouts to represent spectators.
The major snowstorm that hit the entire Northeast didn't stop the annual Groundhog Day ceremony which takes place at Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill just outside Punxsutawney about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
This was Phil's 135th turn as a weather oracle.
Makes this writer who tags his column “Here & There” wanting to go and cover this annual event live…see what happens next February.
