John H. Rogers, a beloved figure of Masten Lake, passed away on July 8, 2024.He was 79.

John was born in Oak Ridge, TN on October 23, 1944, to John and Beatrice Rogers, spending his childhood in Rochester, NY, alongside his three sisters: Gail Moulton, Joyce Robinson, and the late Carolyn Flood.

John proudly served in the US Navy from 1963-1969 and later worked as a Broadcast engineer for 40 years, retiring from WGBH Boston in 2016.

John and his wife Linda have been married for 55 years and lived in Taunton, MA, until they moved to their Masten Lake home in 2017. John spent his days with, and is survived by, his wife Linda Rogers, daughter Heather Grodin, son-in-law Brian Grodin, grandchildren Ryan and Sarah Grodin, his beloved dog Charlie, and the rest of his “lake family”.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, John’s thirst for knowledge was insatiable. He delighted in discussing with friends and family. John’s passion for history extended beyond books; he was an active member of NEMM (Northeast Mountain Men), participating enthusiastically in historical reenactments that brought the past to life for others.

In accordance with his wishes, John will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered at locations significant to his life’s journey.

John H. Rogers leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and devotion to family. His warm smile, gentle demeanor, and wealth of knowledge will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those fortunate enough to have known him.
