Joseph E Verderber, 82, formerly of Damascus and recently a resident of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center passed away Thursday September 26, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his wife Donna L. (Bowers) Verderber who passed away November 28, 2023. 

Born October 28, 1941 in Callicoon Center, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Doris (Whitehead) Verderber.  He had three sisters; Marilyn, Anna, and Ellie.  His two brothers were John and Tony.  All preceded him in death. 

Joe was a self employed contractor.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball for Ron’s Ringers. 

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Verderber and his partner Lisa Medvetz MD and Michael Verderber and his wife Nina; one granddaughter Kimberly Saul and her husband Everett; and great-grandchildren Luke, Leah, Allison, and Nathan.  Also surviving are step-grandchildren Bobby Glassel and Maribeth Olsen, Carolee Glassel and Wally (Scott) McGowan, John Glassel and his wife Jessica, Joseph Gagliardo and Elizabeth Roser, Tara Ward and her husband Rob, Danielle Eschenberg and her husband JP (John Paul). 

Joe was a dad to many in his own way and especially loved Kirk, Kory, and Kristal Keesler Whitmore.    

Joe leaves behind many close friends at Ellen Memorial.  The family would like to thank all the staff and nurses at the facility.  A special thank you to the hospice nurses who cared for Pop. 

As per his request private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
