Kiamesha Lake continues to face boil water advisory

Posted

KIAMESHA LAKE – The hamlet of Kiamesha Lake in the Town of Thompson is still under a boil water advisory since one was issued on November 14. It is the second advisory issued by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) following a water main break last January.

This current advisory was issued just a few weeks after the previous one expired. The current boil water advisory has an indefinite expiry, as the utility owner has reportedly failed to follow the direction of the DOH to not use the water supply. The utility owner continues to use the surface water pump to replenish the supply without notifying the proper authorities.

The utility owner was told by the DOH not to use the water supply as it would introduce pathogens into the water supply with inadequate sanitization. According to documentation, the water utility serves 410 properties.
