Lady Panthers fall to Lady Dragons in physical contest

MONTICELLO — The Cornwall Boys and Girls varsity basketball teams visited Monticello on Friday night for a double header in The Pit. The Girls opened the night with a very physical contest that led to multiple fouls for both teams as Cornwall came away with a 37-14 victory.

Coaches were forced to be creative after foul trouble on both sides led to creative roatations and schemes.

Monticello’s Amiah Neails was a center of focus for Cornwall on both sides of the ball, leading her to face an extra defender or two on every touch and every missed shot.

Despite being the focal point, Neails was still able to net eight of Monticello’s 14 points, using her superior rebounding ability on both sides of the court to keep the Lady Panthers in the game.

Cornwall’s strong second half, propelled by Karis Addison’s game-high 14 points, helped the Lady Dragons earn the victory. Addison was accompanied in scoring by Tessa Furst and Kate Vitale’s eight and five points respectively.
