Lady Yellowjackets headed to Sectionals

ELDRED — As the weather gets colder, The Lady Yellowjackets team stays heating up with their face off against the Chapel Field Lions on Tuesday.

Displaying fully the payoffs of their hard work, the 3-1 win puts Eldred in the column at (2-2) for the Division season delivering them to a spot in the upcoming Sectionals.

Eldred reached the Section Championship last year before Mount Academy ended the Lady Yellowjackets’ season on their way to a State Championship victory over Section 3’s Cincinnatus Central.

With the win over Chapel Field on Tuesday, Eldred earned the final league win that they needed to qualify for Sectionals, where they will likely have to square off against Livingston Manor for a third time.

After Saturday’s 5-0 loss to Livingston Manor, Eldred’s coaches stressed the importance of the Chapel Field game, knowing that a win punched their ticket to Sectionals.

The Lady Yellowjackets responded well under the lights on Tuesday evening as they were able take a 2-1 lead over their opponents before burying a late goal for a 3-1 victory.

They say it’s hard to beat a team three times, and after the first meeting between Eldred and Livingston Manor was a one goal difference, Eldred will look to forget the rainy second matchup and play a more physical game in the playoffs.
