Linda L. Cellini, 77, of Monticello, NY, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on July 19, 2024. Linda was born on February 5, 1947, in Canandaigua, NY, to the late Edward Andross and Beulah (Billie) Jeffers.

Linda will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Anthony (Tony) Cellini, and their sons, Todd Cellini (Kristen) of Arvada, CO, and Christopher Cellini (Christina) of Rock Hill, NY. She was a devoted grandmother to Doran, Lydia, and Emilia. She is survived by her brothers Edward, Jay, and James, along with brother-in-law Charles Cellini (Jean) and several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Linda was a graduate of Red Creek High School and, upon graduation, became a flight attendant for TWA, a job she cherished as it allowed her to travel all over the world. She was extremely active in her community, in politics, and beyond. Linda served many years as the local representative for the late Congressman Benjamin Gillman and then NYS Senator John Bonacic. Linda’s awards were many, and she was especially proud when she was named the NYS Senate “Woman of the Year.”

Linda was predeceased by her mother and father, stepfather Charles Jeffers, and brother George.

One evening, as the Cellini family gathered around the dinner table, the phone rang in Linda’s makeshift office downstairs. Without hesitation, she excused herself and rushed to answer it, her family knowing all too well that someone in need was on the other end. This scenario replayed itself countless times, as Linda’s dedication to her community and her role with the United Way of Sullivan County (born in the very same rec room) were unwavering. Her family watched with pride and admiration as she selflessly helped one person after another, her compassion and kindness inspiring them. That was Linda—always ready to lend a helping hand, whenever and wherever it was needed. To this day, her sons and their families have followed in her footsteps and become very active in their respective communities.

Linda was also a passionate supporter of the New York Mets. She loved cheering for her favorite team and loved attending games at Shea Stadium. Her love for the Mets was a joyful part of her life, and she shared this passion with her family and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Delaware Valley Nursing and Rehab Center, especially Sarah and Eileen, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please take a moment and say a prayer for someone afflicted with Alzheimer’s.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
