Martha Ahrens of Delhi, NY formerly of Grahamsville and Roscoe, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Delhi Rehab and Nursing Center, Delhi, NY. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Katharina Biberacher Stuhlmiller, she was born February 10, 1933 in Hancock, NY.
Martha was a graduate of Roscoe Central School, Albany Business College and Sullivan County Community College. Martha retired as a Branch Manager and VP at the Bank of America in Grahamsville, NY; she was a supporter of the Time and the Valleys Museum in Grahamsville; enjoyed working on the Tri-Valley Townsman Newspaper; she was a member of the Grahamsville United Methodist Church; and a member of the Lion’s Club. Martha enjoyed golfing in her younger years, she loved RVing and traveling across the country with Fred. Martha took the time to research her family’s genealogy, writing the family history and even traveled to Germany to meet her family members. For many years she loved playing cards with her friends, reading mysteries, collecting Hummels and commemorative coins, flower gardening and cross-country skiing.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn Lake of Delhi, NY; Ralph Lake and his wife Joan of Nassau, NY; grandchildren, Erin Crowe and her husband Andrew, Lisa Reilly and her husband Vincent, Amber Newman, Noelle Lake, Joseph Lake and his wife Ari, Carissa Bohley and her husband William; stepchildren Judy Ahrens and Jane Witthohn; step-grandchildren, Casey Witthohn and his wife Rebecca, Nikki Rogers and her husband, Roy many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Ahrens; and one brother, Joseph Stuhlmiller.
Private graveside services and burial will be at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY. Pastor Shelley Eggleton will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
