They moved the trailer in 1968 to her parent’s farm in Liberty, then subsequently built their home. They enjoyed the winters snowmobiling, the summers gardening, all the while raising their kids.

Myrna began a program with the Clark County School District, and Library called Reading with Rover. She saw a need to have kids who were struggling with basic reading, to have them read to the dogs as the dogs showed no judgement.

She initially used 2 of her Giant Schnauzers, Rosemary and Napoleon for the program. This then branched out to having her dogs become registered therapy animals. Myrna’s passion then transformed her and Fred to visit various Las Vegas area hospitals, mainly Valley Hospital, as well as local convalescent facilities.

In June of 2019, Myrna and Fred moved to Carson City, NV for health reasons. Sadly, her husband Fred, passed away on September 21, 2021 after 61 years of marriage. Myrna maintained living independently as much as possible with Teddy her schnauzer.
