CALLICOON, NY – Project partners, Callicoon Depot Inc., the Callicoon Business Association and the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, announce the next public town hall meeting to discuss progress, provide updates and gather valuable community feedback on the highly anticipated adaptive reuse project at the Callicoon Train Depot. The event will take place on July 16th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Delaware Youth Center in the Hamlet of Callicoon, NY.

Tim Bruno, General Manager of WJFF Radio Catskill will once again be facilitating the event. Tim’s experience and expertise in moderating thoughtful discussions promises to create a meaningful and inclusive dialogue.

The project aims to restore and transform the historic Callicoon Train Depot into a dynamic community asset. Town hall meetings serve as an essential platform for community members to learn about the project’s history, plans, timeline and details.

Participants will have an opportunity to offer their insights and suggestions directly to the project team and to actively participate in shaping the future of the Callicoon Depot. The project partners are committed to creating a space that will not only house the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway Visitor Center, but also promote the region and its economic development, serve as a versatile community hub for cultural, artistic, civic and educational activities, all while fostering a sense of community and regional pride.

A panel of project partners will be present to provide expert insights and answer questions:

Darko Hreljanovic, President of Callicoon Depot Inc., Development & Programming partner, will share details of the restoration process, timelines, current plans and some options for the activation of the train depot.

Nicole Vallance, President of the Callicoon Business Association, will outline the overall project goals and its significance as it relates to local businesses and the community.

Richard Lowe III, Chair of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, will discuss the importance of the organization having a dedicated Visitor Center, the choice of location, the collaborative efforts that have made this project a reality and its alignment with broader regional goals.

The community will also have the opportunity to meet the members of the new Callicoon Depot Inc. Board of Directors to get to know them and the roles they play in the project.

Together, the project partners will provide an in-depth understanding of the project’s vision and potential impacts. They’ll answer questions and offer opportunities for community engagement. Your presence and input will be instrumental in steering the course of the Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center.

The project team highlighted the continued generosity of both Tim Bruno and the Delaware Youth Center, “Tim stepped up immediately when he heard that we were planning another event, and in recognition of both the project’s importance to our community and the Callicoon Business Association’s significant contributions in Callicoon, the Youth Center Board has once again generously offered the venue for this important community meeting at no cost.” This type of support underscores the inclusive and community-minded spirit that drives this all volunteer project.

The project partners are actively fostering collaboration with the greater community to help create a vibrant and thriving destination that will benefit generations to come. The Callicoon Depot Visitor Center Project Town Hall will be held on July 16th at 6 pm, at the Delaware Youth Center, 8 Creamery Road, Callicoon, NY 12723.
