Rainforest Destruction for EV’s

Posted

To the editor:

It’s insulting that our government says they are for ending pollution and the so-called climate-change horror and not do anything to stop it.

For over 50 years oil companies have extracted immense amounts of crude oil from the Amazon, causing the destruction of rainforest crucial to slowing climate change and jeopardizing the indigenous tribes who rely on it. Some 66 percent of this oil goes to the United States and the vast majority of that goes to California. So just when did our government care about this destruction?

For over 50 years rainforests have been destroyed by mining for precious metals and gemstones and the logging of rainforest trees destroys nature’s habitat!

Recently announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the BIG crave is for Nickel for Electric Vehicles’ (EV’s) Batteries that need electricity to be charged. Besides needing that metal, electricity comes from coal burning and other fossil fuel sources, all of which leaves a giant carbon footprint!  The destruction is contributing to climate change and is a factor in the atmosphere’s high carbon dioxide levels. Those levels are now 27 percent higher than they have been in half a million years.

Miners struggling with low nickel prices have welcomed rising demand from an industry that the International Energy Agency estimates will deploy up to 70 million electric vehicles by 2025. That’s less than 3 years from now!

They sell these EV cars as luxuries while they’re more into destroying the planet!

So, our government is doing a good job? Yeah ok. Lying and not caring is more like it, so enjoy your efficient & environmentally safe (not) EV while they kill us.

Worldwide since 2011 these EV’s have caught on fire destroying buildings, killing people and causing destruction.
