SULLIVAN COUNTY — Section 9 playoffs kick off this week for soccer and football. The brackets were released over the weekend showing where and when the games would be this week.

Liberty (A) and Fallsburg (B) were the only two Boys Soccer teams to qualify for sectionals this year.

No. 6 Liberty will start on the road at No. 3 Beacon on Thursday, October 26. If they win, they will face No. 2 Marlboro for a chance to play for the Section 9 Championship on October 31.

No. 5 Fallsburg will travel to No. 4 O’Neill this afternoon, with a chance to win and play No. 1 Spackenkill on Thursday. If they manage to upset the top seed, the Comets will travel to Goshen High School for the Class B Championship on October 28.

Sullivan West, Tri-Valley, Livingston Manor/Roscoe and Eldred all qualified for Girls Soccer across the various classes.

No. 5 Sullivan West will travel to No. 4 Rhinebeck on Wednesday for a chance to move on and play No. 1 O’Neill on Friday. The winner of that game will play for the Class B Championship at the Hudson Sports Complex on October 29.

Tri-Valley finished as the No. 2 seed, and will host Pine Plains on Wednesday at 2 p.m. If they win, they will play the winner of the Mount Academy and Burke semifinal game on Saturday, October 28 at Wallkill High School.

In Class D, Livingston Manor and Eldred qualified as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds respectively, and will square off in the Section 9 Class D Championship tonight at Goshen High School at 6:30 p.m.

The only football teams that made it to Sectionals are in the 8-Man Division. No. 3 Fallsburg will host No. 6 Tri-Valley on Friday night, with the winner moving on to face No. 2 Sullivan West. The winner of that game will travel to O’Neill on November 10 to play in the 8-Man Championship game.

The Section 9 Championship meet for Cross Country will be held at Sanfordville Elementary School on November 4 for a chance to move on to the State Championship.
