Smallwood Civic Association lends helping hand

Posted

Over several weeks in the month of January, the Smallwood Civic Association has been distributing KN95 masks locally to those who need them. As part of the organization's coordinated efforts with both the Sullivan County Legislature and the Town of Bethel, Civic Association members distributed masks at Smallwood Beach, the Forest Reserve Dog Park and a few other places.

Despite the recent cold weather, 750 masks and close to 350 COVID-19 test kits were distributed so far. This volunteer community work also included partnering with the Kauneonga Lake Fire Department to hand out 75 masks to the Senior Housing Complex in Bethel.

As part of a program established by the Sullivan County Legislature, the Smallwood Civic Association and the Bethel Lions Club are collaborating on a town-wide mask and test kit distribution event this weekend.

The distribution event will take place on Sunday, February 6 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m or until supplies run out. It will take place at the Smallwood Beach parking lot located at 723 Lakeview Drive just off Pine Grove Road. Please follow directions for one-way easy-in/easy-out handoffs in your car. Organizers remind those attending that they must be wearing a mask to receive masks and test kits.
