Sullivan County Youth Bureau Levels the Playing Field

Posted

SULLIVAN COUNTY – Through a County Legislative grant, the Sullivan County Youth Bureau funded training, league and tournament fees for Sullivan County girls and boys who wanted to train and play soccer at a competitive level through the Hudson Valley Athletic Club (HVAC). In 2024, through this grant, HVAC began training and rostering additional Sullivan County players.

Sullivan County players participated in some of the largest soccer tournaments in the country this past year.  Those tournaments included the Bethesda Cup, PA Classics, Easter International, and the Mayor’s Cup.    Select players have also had the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Development Program (ODP).  HVAC supports their players in opening doors to college soccer programs.

This endeavor has been hugely successful in introducing players to another level of the sport and new life skills on and off the field.

“I brought my two sons to HVAC to improve their soccer skills, but they have gained so much more.  My husband and I have just loved watching their confidence in themselves grow.  And that carries over into their everyday lives” – Amanda Aguila (Parent of U13 and U15 players).

There are 2024-2025 season roster spots still available for Sullivan County soccer players born between 2006 and 2014. Please contact Coach Goodman at 845-932-8492.  Trainings are held twice a week in Sullivan County at The Center for Discovery soccer field in Harris, New York.

Mentorship Coaching opportunities are available for older soccer players and interested parties.
