Mr. Vincent C.  Galligan Sr. of Oakland Valley, NY died Sunday, June 2, 2024 at home.  He was 83.

He was born February 21, 1941 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Vincent Clifford Galligan and the late Florence  Bushweller Galligan.

On May 30, 1961, Vincent C. Galligan, Sr. married his beloved Kathleen Rohner and together they built the family homestead in Oakland Valley, NY.  There Vincent and Kathleen raised a family of five in the comfortable confines along the Neversink River.

He worked as a self-employed carpenter as Galligan Construction in Cuddebackville, NY.

Vincent was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis, NY where he volunteered his services.

He was a proud member of the NRA - National Rifle Association and a founding member and President of the Cropsey Creek Hunting Club in Boonville, NY.

A family statement read:  Dad, Papa, Old Papa, looked forward to Deer Season when all the family gathered at his home, which became the hunting camp for the month. Over the years he enjoyed traveling with his wife Kathleen to their Boonville Camp and his many trips up the railroad with his best friend Schultz.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family sitting on this deck overlooking the Neversink.

Son: Vincent C. Galligan, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Oakland Valley, NY

Son: Joseph J. Galligan and his wife Lisa of Boonville, NY

Daughter: Marianne Ramos and her husband Ignacio of Port Jervis, NY

Daughter: Jean M. Miller and her husband Earl of Port Jervis, NY;

Son, Shawn E. Galligan and his wife Candice of Oakland Valley, NY. 

Brother: James Galligan and his wife Ellen of Forestburgh, NY

Sister-in-law:  Patricia Galligan of Forestburgh, NY

Brother-in-law: James W. Rohner and his wife Luverne of Port Jervis, NY

15 Grandchildren: Vincent III & his wife Jeni, Scott and his wife Michele, Ashley, Sarah and husband Chad, Zachary and wife Katie, Nicholas and wife Kristen, Patrick and fiance Laura, Elena and husband Chris, Kelsey and fiance Zach, Christopher and fiance Michelle, Joshua and companion Gina, Brenna, Kristen and companion Ihab, Daniel and Shawn.

14 Great-Grandchildren: Vincent IV, Lauren, Leah, Hunter, Julie, Allie, Owen, Avery, Jax, Leo, Maggie, Remi, Savannah and Zander.  Also several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his faithful companion, his dog Schultz.

Predeceased his grandson Joseph J. Galligan, Jr, his 2 brothers, Michael E. Galligan and John W. Galligan, his sister, Kathleen Greco, his sister-in-law:  Geraldine Galligan and his brother-in-law, Gerald Greco.

Visitation was held at the GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 100 East Main Street, Port Jervis, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00pm – 9:00  pm.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 with a 9:00 am Prayer at the funeral home followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY  12771 with Fa. Anthony Giacona officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
