What does the future hold for Swan Lake?

To the editor:

“For many years, the residents of Swan Lake have worked very hard to maintain the purity of the waters and natural environment and enhanced the beauty of the area with “home-grown” philanthropic organizations.

The ‘Catskill Clean Water Fund’ has raised over $150,000 from local residents to eradicate invasive chestnut weed.

The ‘Beautify Swan Lake’ organization (formerly Swan Lake Renaissance) has put in hundreds of volunteer hours to create a series of flowering gardens in the immediate vicinity of Swan Lake.

Swan Lake will soon be celebrating a Bicentennial - 200 years since the first dam was built.

What actions are we taking now to ensure the viability of the dam and lake environment for the water, wetlands, wildlife and recreational tourism  for next 100 to 200 years?”
