8th annual CHCM Golf Tournament Raises Money

SOUTH FALLSBURG — On a beautiful Friday, September 15th morning 68 golfers descended on the beautiful Tarry Brae Golf Course located on Pleasant Valley Road in South Fallsburg hosted by Golf Professional Geoff Walsh and his outstanding staff to enjoy a day of golf and to raise funds for the 8th Annual CHCM Golf Outing.

What is CHCM you ask?  CHCM stands for the ChristHealth Care Ministry, a charitable organization dedicated to providing primary healthcare to adults without medical insurance.  Besides offering this needed health care to those in need they have discovered they can enjoy golf with their many supporters and help keep the charity financially viable at the same time. They enjoyed that mission on Friday at Tarry Brae Golf Course.

The group, representing golfers of all ages, genders and ability competed for bragging rights playing a team scramble format competition with additional prizes awarded for both men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to the pin honors.

With the event being held to provide financial support for an extraordinary charitable organization, CHCM it also produced extraordinary golfing performance by the winning team and on/or the women golfer participants.  The winning team of Marcolino Andalis, Alvin Viray, Rich Panio and Dillon Barone shot an unheard of 18 under par 54 to outpace the second place team of Ira Steingart, Cindy Perlmutter, Nathan Steingart and Pravin Singh’s 13 under par 59.

If the extraordinary team performance of Team Andalis achieving an 18 under winning score was not enough, Buffy Whiting from the Chamberlain Team hit the longest drive for women on hole #16 and then moved on to the next hole, the par 3 hole, designated as the closest to the pin competition.  Her tee shot landed 36’ from the hole earning her the win on that hole too.  At the awards ceremony she celebrated a rare double win in the skills events.

It was an extraordinary day of golf on a beautiful day that raised funds to support the CHCM mission.
