MONGAUP VALLEY – Game two of the Monday night matchups at Collins Field was short and sweet.
L & B Tack club came away with the victory over Danny’s Auto. The game was called early due to the Mercy rule, with a final score of 21 to 0.
The L & B Tack ladies were aggressive from the start, pounding hit after hit. Danny’s Auto found themselves hustling in the outfield chasing down balls on defense.
The game exemplified the adage of life being a ‘game of inches’; every one of L & B’s hits found a hole or skipped off a glove of Danny’s Auto. On offense for DA they just couldn’t seem to find their groove.
L & B took advantage of the mismatch and capitalized on every break and opportunity.
Haley Carpenter of DA, was impressive, making several key plays out in the field, and registered a triple that was close to converting to a run if not for a close play at the plate that ended the inning.
The L & B stars for the evening were Tricia Tuttle with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. Mel Merton launched a ball that made it all the way to the fence, allowing her to get around the bases for an inside the park home run- the second of the night. Mel also had 2 singles. Riley Ernst had a big night, contributing 3 hits, and 3 RBIs.
Danny’s Auto chalked it up to being “one of those games” and felt confident about being able to rebound the next time out. L & B is on a roll and hope to keep the momentum going.
