HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Memorial Hospital announces a free educational program for family members and care partners of people living with dementia. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania, the presentation will be on Thursday, February 29th from 5 to 6 p.m. at the hospital’s David Katz Conference Room in Honesdale.

Behavior is one of the primary ways people living with dementia communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges. Learn how to decode these messages, identify common triggers, and gain strategies to help manage some of the most common behavioral challenges.

According to federal statistics, close to six million people in the United States have Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, most of them aged 65 and older. The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania is a safe resource for information, advice and support. The program is free and open to everyone. Registration is not required but recommended (800) 272-3900.
