Fallsburg Comets burn their way to victory

FALLSBURG–– On Monday the Fallsburg Comets hosted Tuxedo Tornados in a non-league contest. After coming off their second loss of the season against Ellenville, the Comets marked a huge victory with this win over Tuxedo and were ready to go straight from the jump.

The Tornados pushed the game hard in the opening minutes, but the Comets quickly turned it around and took control of the game with authority and never let up on the gas. After a 9-0 run early in the first quarter Tuxedo called a time out to try to slow the onslaught of the Comets but that would ignite Fallsburg even more.

At the half the Comets had built a 33-point lead over the frazzled Tornados. The Comets run would continue in the second half. Several two-point layup attempts turned into three-point conversions at the foul line. Behind the arc it was all Fallsburg.

Donovan Hart sunk 4 three pointers and scored 20 points on the night. Daryl McPherson and Jeffrey Evangelista Jr. both contributed 15 points to the Comet win. Logan Bello of Tuxedo was their highest scorer in the game with 14 and teammate Logan Saari-Poznanski contributed 10 points.

Head coach for the Comets Lionel White was out.  Filling in for the night was Coach Peter Dworetsky.

After the game Dworetsky commented:  “The boys came out and played hard together, they moved the ball well, found the open man and took quality shots. Defensively, we brought a lot of pressure, capitalized on their [Tuxedo’s]mistakes, and scored a lot of baskets in transition. Overall, it was a great team win.  Every player on the team got some quality minutes and the kids had fun.”
