Felix Marty, 96 years of age, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday July 2,2024 with his loving family at his side. Felix Marty was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.

Felix was a proud veteran of the US Army, Korean War, 65th Infantry “The Borinqueneers.” He came home with a Korean War Service medal, three Bronze Service Stars, a combat infantry badge and the United Nations Service Medal. After leaving the Army in 1953, he met the love of his life Maria. They married in 1955, at which time they moved to the South Bronx where he owned a bodega. Together they raised five children and worked hard to send them all to Catholic School, St. Pius V. In 1981, the family moved to Mountaindale, NY.

Felix is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Maria Marty of Monticello; his four loving children: Elizabeth Marty-Rudick and her husband Rusty of Rohnert Park, CA, Linda Marty-Browne and her husband Ray of White Lake, Maryann Marty-Browne and her husband Curt of White Lake, and Daniel Marty and his wife Barbi of Parksville. He was predeceased by his loving son Felix Marty Jr. “Jimmy” formally from Mountaindale. Felix will also be dearly missed by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Catherine Rodriguez, Ryan Browne (Amanda), Bryant Ho (Tianni), Kevin Browne, Allison Browne, Jennifer Browne, Rachel Rudick, Dianna Marty, Sofia Marty, Saralina Marmanillo (Amanda), Sebastian Ho, Brayden Browne, and Tallulah Ho. In addition to his son Jimmy, he was predeceased by his 11 siblings, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family & friends are invited to gather on Friday, July 5 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, at 3:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello with Fr. Bob Porpora officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
