George T. Manno of Mileses, NY passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old.

George was the son of Terigio and Frieda (Priester) Manno. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 18, 1936.

George graduated from Chelsea Vocational High School in Manhattan, NY. He then attended the US Infantry School in Ft. Benning Georgia, where he received highest academic standing in the class. He also received an honor for being an outstanding sharpshooter. He attended Metropolitan Evening Trade School and Delehanty Institute to become a certified electrical inspector. He followed up with university courses at SUNY New Paltz and SUNY Oswego. George retired as Supervising Electrical Inspector of the City of NY. He then moved to Mileses where he was owner/operator of Manno Farm. George worked as electrical instructor for DV Job Corp, and then Orange County Community College as a maintenance technician. He served as member and president of the DVCS school board for many years. George was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon.

George was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and hiking the mountains. He loved to take drives along the countryside and he loved to dance. He was an excellent baker of pizza, calzones and bread.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Irene (Walter). His children Amy, Christina, Frank, Terence and Emma (Tony). His grandchildren Cody, Jordan, and Sofia and Ember. His 2 sisters, a sister-in-law, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Frank Manno and sister Louise Azzato.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan for their care and compassion.

Funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550 or to the charity of one’s choice.
