Face-off with Paula Kay set for November

100TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT — Republican voters turned out Tuesday to make their voices heard in the 100th Assembly District Republican Primary.

According to unofficial results by the New York State Board of Elections, candidate Louis Ingrassia Jr. defeated opponent Camille O’Brien 1,249 - 858.

Out of 20,321 enrolled Republicans, only 2,156 cast their vote – 10.6 percent of the eligible electorate.

In the 12 townships of Sullivan County in the district, however, O’Brien won the majority 763-579.

In Orange County, Ingrassia overwhelmingly won with 670 votes (84.17 percent) to O’Brien’s 95 votes (11.93 percent).

“I am proud to have run a good, clean campaign and hope that we have both demonstrated that campaigns can be run with the character and integrity that is so often missing in the current political landscape,” O’Brien said. “As a united front is needed in order to flip this Assembly seat red and help to break the Democratic Super-majority in Albany, I will be stepping off the Conservative line in order to give Lou the best chance at victory.”

William Dawson, O’Brien’s campaign communications director, said, “She was the sole owner of the Conservative ballot line, so it was 100 percent her choice to give it to [Ingrassia],” said Dawson.

Looking ahead to November’s General Election, Ingrassia noted his pledge to implement meaningful transformations within New York State.

“I want to thank everyone who has backed and supported me during the race,” said Ingrassia, a lifelong Town of Wallkill resident. “Your kind words and encouragement is what motivates and inspires me every day. I look forward to working even harder on the campaign trail over the next few months and listening to what is on the minds of the good and hard-working residents of the NY-100.”

Come November, Ingrassia will be challenging Democrat Paula Kay for the seat of New York’s 100th Assembly District, currently held by Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, a Democrat.

“With your support, I hope to celebrate another win in November,” stated Ingrassia, “and bring much needed leadership to New York.”
