HONESDALE, PA — The old village band tradition is alive and well in Pennsylvania, and for almost a century now the Lenoxville Community Band has been among the groups carrying it forward. The group will be performing a program of light classical, brass band, and contemporary favorites in Honesdale’s Central Park on Monday evening, July 8, beginning at 7:30 PM. The concert is being presented by the Wayne County Creative Arts Council as part of the 2024 Summer Festival of Events.

Under director Mason Stiver, the more than three dozen musicians of the Lenoxville Community Band, ranging in age from teenagers to senior citizens, have been keeping busy this summer with appearances at parades and community events throughout northeastern PA and the southern tier of NY. Audiences can expect a fun, upbeat, and varied selection of music to enjoy under the trees in the Park.

In event of inclement weather, tune into 95.3 FM WDNH or 105.3 FM for location changes. There is no admission charge for this event, but a free-will donation will be collected. Refreshments from CreamWorks Creamery will be available for purchase. Audiences should bring chairs or blankets for seating. For more information, contact Project Manager Mitzi Kielar, 570-785-3674. More information about the Lenoxville Community Band can be found on their Facebook page.
