One victim burned in Monticello structure fire

MONTICELLO — Emergency personnel and first responders were dispatched to a three-alarm structure fire at 132 Haddock Road in the village of Monticello at approximately 8:13 am on October 27, with reports of one victim receiving burn wounds on the scene.

According to Sullivan County Coroner Alan Keston, the 59 year old male victim was an occupant of the structure, and was medevaced to Westchester Medical Center. 

The condition of the victim is undetermined as of presstime. The structure was reported to be destroyed by the fire.

Multiple emergency response organizations were on scene, including the Monticello, Forestburgh, Liberty, Rock Hill, Swan Lake, Woodridge, and Sparrowbush Fire Departments, the Town of Bethel FAST team, the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and their Fire Investigators, Mobilemedic EMS, Life Net Air 2, Town of Thompson Code Enforcement, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, NYSEG and the Red Cross. 

On Standby was Liberty Fire Department in Monticello.

According to Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire.
