MONTICELLO – On Tuesday night in “The Pit,” the Monticello Panthers hosted the Chapel Field Lions. “We struggled to start the first set a little bit.

Going into the second set I told them, that we needed to focus on the serve, and really lock-in, get balls where they need to go, and the game plan worked out,” shared new head coach Sierra Smith, after the Panthers’ win.

The Lions came out roaring in the first set leading by as much as 11 points early on. The Panthers rallied for a comeback but ultimately fell short with a 22-25 loss in the first set. The Panthers returned with a little more gas in the tank and  dominated the Lions 25-12 in the second set. It was an intense back and forth volley in the third set but the home team came away with a slim 26-24 victory.

The final set saw the Panthers take the lead and never look back. The Monties defeated Chapel Field 25-12 to close out the fourth set.
