LAKE HUNTINGTON –  Sullivan West Sophomore Ella Herbert is a standout student athlete. Ella is the captain of the basketball team, where she has played varsity ball for the last two years. This season, Ella has been especially exceptional on the basketball court, scoring double digits consistently and contributing great effort on the defensive end. Her contributions helped drive her team to the Section IX semi-finals. 

Pat Donovan, varsity head coach, says, “Ella is a great young lady. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for many years. She played JV as a 7th grader and started playing varsity as a freshman. She is one of our captains this year. She is a great teammate, very coachable, and very well-respected by the faculty, staff, and students at school.

She participates in soccer and softball, showcasing her diverse skill set and her love for other sports. In addition to her athletics, Ella is actively involved in the 4H program and the FFA.

FFA is an organization for high school students who are interested in leadership and agriculture. Volunteering in the community is an important part of character-building for high school students. In the Town of Callicoon, she dedicates her time and energy to giving back to her community, volunteering for the youth basketball program, and serving as an official for the AYSO soccer league. 

 In the classroom, Ella holds a 94.5 GPA, maintaining President’s List status, and she is the treasurer for the class of 2027.
