Richard George Parks Jr., a retired registered nurse at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Woodbourne, passed away at his home in Cherry Ridge, PA on Friday, May 31, 2024.  He was 65.

The son of Mariann Messar Parks and the late Richard G. Parks Sr., he was born September 15, 1958 in Yonkers.

Rich was an avid fisherman and loved nature.  If he wasn’t fishing, he was bird watching. He may have more pictures of fish and birds than anything else. His love for classic rock was unmatched. 

He is survived by his long term partner Birgit O’Connell-Blatt, his children: Richard G. Parks III (Fraydee Fried), grandchildren Andy, James, Jack, and Abby, his daughter Tricia Brodhagen-Wahl (Justin Brodhagen), grandchildren Thatcher, Madelyn, Quinn, Allyson, Casey, Carly and Alex, his step sons Sean O’Connell (Sarah), grandchildren Seamus and Slo ane, Kyle O’Connell (Kaiti), grandchildren Eila, Rowan and Carter and Evan Blatt (Melanie) grandson Ayden, his grandchildren loved him very much, his mother and stepfather John and Mariann Macko, step brother Johnny Macko (Kim) and step sister Holly Young (Mickey), nieces and nephews (MacKenzi and John Michael Macko), and his beloved dog Candy. 

He was predeceased by: His father Richard G. Parks Sr. and brother Robert (Bobby) Parks. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19 at 11am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street with Fr. Bob Porpora officiating.
