MONTICELLO – Despite the recent rain and poor air quality halting several games over the last two weeks, the Spitfires have hit a stride with two big wins. On July 23rd the Spitfires (2025 B league) defeated the combined Charlie’s Angels/Fosterdale (2025 A league) softball team 19-14 in a shocking upset. With a smaller talent pool this season teams play in a combined division. Spitfires’ captain Mara Marshall LeRoy said, ‘I’m really proud of our team and how far we’ve come. Last year we finished last in the league, and this year we’ve been able to secure 7 wins so far, one against an A team. We go into each game to do the best we can and have fun.”
The Spitfires have now evened their record to 9-9 with a dominant 26-8 win over Callicoon Pantry just a few days ago. Playoffs are scheduled to begin this week at Collins Field and White Sulphur Springs after a brief pause due to weather cancellations.
