Thomas, Hendrickson win Twin Village golf league

ROSCOE — They waited to the last week, but Bryan Thomas and BJ Hendrickson put together a strong night to win the Monday Night Twin Village Golf Course men’s league.

Throughout the season, Paul and Steve Ryder were leading the league and had a 1 1/2 point lead going into the final night. But the Thomas-Hendrickson team took 12.5 total points in their match to win the league by 1.5 points.

The 15-week league started in May and ended on September 11.

An awards dinner was held at the clubhouse following the final round with many awards being handed out.

Paul Ryder was the scoring champion of the league, scoring 98.5 points.

Kevin Green had the second most points at 96.5. Green also had the most pars on the season, recording 60 pars throughout the season.

Chuck Husson IV had the most birdies, knocking in 25.

Dean Gilmour scored the only eagle in the whole league during the entire season.

Husson IV also had the lowest handicap for the year at 2.38.

Most improved golfer went to Wesley Kinne, who partnered with Bob Lee the entire season. This twosome had the youngest and oldest players in the league on the same team. Wesley is 16 and Bob is 86.

The top six teams for the year were:

1. Thomas - Hendrickson

2. Ryder - Ryder

3. Murphy - Darbee

4. Husson IV - Husson III

5. Green - Helms

6. Odell - Townsend

2023 was an upset of sorts as it was the first time in six years that Chuck Husson IV and his father, Chuck III, did not win the league. They had been champions for five years, dating back to 2018.

The league members also gave Chuck Husson IV a big round of applause for running the league, tracking scores and keeping the schedule running so smoothly.
