MONTICELLO – Tri-Valley faced off against Chapel Field this past weekend in the 16th Annual Coaches vs Cancer Charity event held at Monticello High School. This mid-day matchup was an exciting clash between the two teams.

Tri-Valley boys fall to Chapel Field

Game 1:

Chapel Field- 49

Tri-Valley- 46

The game started off slow offensively as the two teams had trouble finding the basket early on. As the teams started to settle in and turn up the intensity, the shots started to fall. At the end of the first quarter, Tri-Valley held a 13-10 lead behind a 6-point quarter from Boe Mueller.

The second and third quarter fell right in line with both clubs continuing to trade basket for basket. The game was close and by the end of the third quarter, Chapel Field was up by a slim one-point margin. The score was 24-23 in favor of the Lions.

Heading into the final quarter Tri-Valley looked to pull away from Chapel Field. After a few minutes into the fourth the Bears had taken a narrow 2-point lead of 36-34 and the pressure was on to try hold on to the lead in the remaining minutes.

Tri-Valley was in the drivers seat until the 3 minute mark when a technical foul against the Bears sent the Lions to the foul line. Chapel Field took the definitive lead from Tri-Valley and never looked  back.

Tri-Valley saw 3 attempts late in the final minute to try to gain the lead or send the game into overtime, but the shots wouldn’t fall as the clock wound down. The Chapel Field Lions would win the game 49-46 over the Bears.

The Bears were led in scor        ing by Joshua Fanslau with 13 points. He was accompanied by Misha Khodakovski and Boe Mueller with 12 and 9 points respectively.

Bears get revenge on Blue Devils for a great cause

Game 2:

Tri-Valley- 51

Ellenville- 29

After a blowout defeat earlier in the season to Ellenville, the Tri-Valley girls were ready for revenge and came out with one goal in mind. They executed on both ends of the floor and brought home the win.

From the start of the game Tri-Valley made sure that every time the ball was passed a defender was there with a second defender there to assist. The Bears also incorporated this on the offensive on fast break plays. Their hard work and grit paid off and at the end of the 32 minutes the Bears would take home a commanding 51-29 victory over the blue Devils. This was a great test for both clubs with the regular season just about wrapped up, and post season play on the way.

The Lady Bears executed great shot selection and good energy off the bench. It was a great team effort that led to a great win heading into the post season. Following the Tri-Valley boys loss, the Lady Bears evened out the day with a 1 win and 1 loss for the teams.

Tri-Valley was led in scoring by Jordan Dymond with 13 points, Avery Carrier with 11 and Jenna Carmody added 10. Ellenville was led in scoring by Mariah Kinscy with 11 and Neveah Ramos who added 9.
