Tri-Valley cross-country athletes top the podium at the NYSPHSAA Championships

QUEENSBURY -  The Tri-Valley boys cross-country team, and three members from the girls cross country team competed at the New York State Championships this weekend.

Van Furman is now a two-time cross country state champion and won by nearly a full minute. The boy’s team consisting of: Lorenzo Haffner, Boe Mueller, John Woods, Yan Zheliazouski, Van Furman, Wyatt Morton and Aaron Edwards, ran extremely well, and finished 8th overall as a team.

On the girl’s side, Anna Furman is a New York State Champion after finishing as the runner-up for the past two years! Emma Richardson and Kenzie Krier both ran season-best times and finished within four seconds of one another.

Anna and Van will continue this weekend at the NYS Federations meet. This is where all class sizes compete against each other, and includes both public and private schools. It is an invitation-only meet. Van won the NYS Federation last year, and we hope that a repeat title can be accomplished. If either advance, they would compete at the Nike National competition in Oregon.

Anna and Van will also compete in the regional Footlocker Championships in Boston, MA the weekend of Nov 30. If either advance from that race, they will compete at the Footlocker National Championships (the most prestigious and difficult to advance to), in San Diego, CA.

Girls individual results:

Anna Furman: 18:10

Em Richardson: 22:03

Kenzie Krier: 22:07

Boys Team results: 8th place

Boys Individual results:

Boe Mueller: 18:45
