TRI-VALLEY – It was a frigid Friday night in Tri-Valley. The Lady Bears hosted the Livingston Manor Lady Wildcats for a girls basketball game on their home court. Tri-Valley secured a 65-21 win over the Lady Wildcats. It was an excellent game with both teams showing their offensive and defensive capabilities, but Tri-Valley held the edge making it difficult for Manor to keep up. Coach Jason Closs of Tri-Valley had this to say after the win, “We played well, we moved the ball really well tonight and played unselfishly. Everyone that we pulled in off the bench executed their roles well.

We are preparing for the post season and the girls are playing hard and buying into the team chemistry. I’m very proud of our girls and a lot of credit to Manor, every game we’ve had against them they’ve played incredibly hard and never gave up. They’re going to be a great team next year!”

Tri-Valley didn’t waste any time scoring first off a quick layup inside the paint, followed up by a deep three to make the score 5-0 early in the first quarter. Manor quickly responded with a score down in the paint to get on the board. The Lady Bears showed exceptional passing on the court giving them excellent shootin opportunities.

TV’s Jenna Carmody was able to score back-to-back drives to run the score up 9-2 over Manor. This was the start of a 17-point run for the Lady Bears. The Lady Wildcats were struggling to find early offensive momentum with TV forcing multiple turnovers with their lock down defense. TV was able to hold Manor to just two points in the first quarter. At the end of the quarter TV held a 20-point lead over the visitors.

The Lady Wildcats continued to struggle to find the basket throughout in the second quarter. While they are typically a second half team, this first half performance made it difficult for them to find their groove for the rest of the game. Kelsey Ryder of Manor was able to score quickly followed by a fast break from Leah Ladenhauf to make the score 27-6 with three minutes left in the first half. TV ended the quarter 33-9 over Manor going into halftime.

TV came out of the locker room strong early in the third quarter with a quick give and go layup. The Lady Wildcats had their work cut out for them to overcome an almost 30-point deficit. After multiple missed shots and turnovers by the Lady Bears, it looked like the Lady Wildcats still had a chance to come back. TV’s Avery Carner swished a deep three pointer and her team locked back in. They proceeded to go on a 13-point run that was broken at the very end of the quarter with a three pointer by Manor’s Anastasia Niforatos to make the score 48-14 going into the final quarter.

In the first possession of the fourth quarter Tri-Valley’s Allison Chevalier was able to score off a five and go cut right to the basket. Angelina Raykoff immediately followed with a layup. With just four minutes on the clock the Lady Bears led the Lady Wildcats 57-20 and continued to sink their shots. Before long TV had broken 60 points. Both teams played hard but TV was able bring home a commanding win. TV has won both games where the two faced off by more than 20-points.

Both teams have Sullivan West next on their schedules. Manor is set to play Sullivan west tonight [Friday] at 6:30 pm on Manor’s home court. TV and Sullivan West will meet on Monday, February 3 at 6:30 pm in  Lake Huntington.
