Enjoy Nature in June

SULLIVAN COUNTY - The Sullivan County Democratic Committee is pleased to announce more in a summer-long series of events designed to showcase the diverse beauty of our area. June events include two garden tours on June 5th and a River Trip on June 23rd.

On June 5th Visit Story’s Neversink Plant Company. Horticulturists and plant collectors John W. Story and Diana K. Weiner invite you to tour their greenhouse collection of succulents and rare and unusual plants. Walk the grounds as well to see a crevice garden, vegetable plots, shade gardens, a “She Shed” and a curing barn. Afterward, stop in for lunch and use your 20% off coupon for prepared food and drinks at the Neversink General Store.

After lunch, proceed to Flying Trillium and Gardens and Preserve in Bradley. Carolyn Summers, designer and author, invites you to tour the native plant gardens at Flying Trillium. Eastern lupine meadow, native azalea collection, shade gardens, will all be at or near peak. Visit the dwarf (native) conifer collection and hike the old growth hemlock trail.

You can visit one or both of these gardens. Tickets for a single garden are $25 per person. Visit both for a discounted price of $40 per person.

On June 23rd, enjoy the natural peaceful beauty of the Delaware River and its shores in a day-long trip by canoe or kayak from Lordeville back to the Soaring Eagle Campground in Equinunk. Enjoy lunch on the shore as you paddle downstream.

The normal trip time is 4 hours but that depends on the height of the river and how long you stop for lunch. Tickets are $50 per person. If you are unable to attend, but are able to sponsor a family trip, that would be most welcome!

All tickets can be purchased at scnydc.org/events/list. Registration is limited, so act now!
