ROSCOE – The Lady Yellowjackets visited the Lady Blue Devils on Monday night for a league matchup. The game got off to a slow start, with the two scores combining for 14 points in the first half, eight for Eldred and six for Roscoe.
The Lady Yellowjackets got all the offense they would need in the third quarter, scoring 12 of their 24 points in that frame, and they would close out the game with a 24-15 victory.
This was a much different outcome than Friday’s non-league matchup between the Lady Yellowjackets and Lady Blue Devils in Eldred. Due to the lack of Class D competition in Section IX this year, Eldred and Roscoe face off two more times this season. The first game, an Eldred victory, was non-league.
Olivia Gonzalez led all scorers with 12 points, six of them in that pivotal third quarter.
Ashlee Ladenhauf and Zaylee Cox each scored six points for Roscoe. All 15 points scored by the Blue Devils were from 3-point range.
“We didn’t play our best tonight,” Eldred Coach June Hallock said after the game. “We played hard defense and we’re starting to get into a groove on the court.”
Eldred is back in action tonight against a Lady Wildcats team from Livingston Manor that defeated Fallsburg in a non-league matchup on Monday night.
The Lady Blue Devils lost a non-league match against Liberty on Wednesday and have no scheduled games until they visit Eldred again next week.
