As the last few days of glorious Fall weather are upon us and we prepare for whatever winter has in store, there are still events happening that are interesting and give a chance to get out there with your friends and neighbors.

I saw a notice for a call for volunteers to help with the seasonal cleanup of Circle Park in Lumberland. This beautiful Park is the center for many community activities and in addition to  very creative and accessible playground equipment, it has easy introductory level hiking trails, a picnic area, a basketball, and pickle ball courts, is dog friendly, has a little lending library for books, restrooms, and tons of parking.

This beautiful park is open all year long so in winter there is safe sledding space and snowshoes available. The advantage of volunteering to help with the cleanup is Circle Park is beautifully landscaped and volunteers will be working with very experienced gardeners.

The Circle Park Workday is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th from 8 to 11 am. Light refreshments and cleanup equipment will be provided. For additional information go to the Town of Lumberland Parks & Recreation Page on Facebook.

Pastor Charles Perez and his Barryville Community Church are inviting the community to help the Church celebrate their second-year anniversary. The celebrations will include a Sunday Service with a performance by the Church’s Children’s Choir, special worship music and a delicious Hispanic foods meal in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Celebration event will take place on Sunday October 13th 1Oam at the River’s Edge Restaurant, 3351 Route 97 @ the Shohola Bridge. For planning purposes the Church is requesting an RSVP by either texting or calling Pastor Perez at 973.91O.29O3 or at charlesprz777@gmail.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mark your calendars electronic or old school. On October 26th, The Barryville Farmers Market and the Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring their Annual Halloween Party at the Market.

I will have more specific details about the Halloween Party celebration in next week’s column. What I do know is that this very popular kids bash includes live music, and costume contests and a parade along River Road and a fabulous trunk and treat. The Barryville Chamber is still in need of people to take the remaining spots for the Trunk and Treat that takes place in the cul-de-sac in Barryville.

If interested contact Mary Jones Mellett on the Greater Barryville Chamber of Commerce site by emailing info@barryvilleny.com to get your spot. So, start getting your family’s costumes and pet costumes together.

Also, on Saturday October 26th The Repair Café in Tusten is happening from 10 to 1pm. It will be happening in the Tusten Town Hall which is located in the basement of the Tusten Theater at 21O Bridge Street in Narrowsburg.

These wizards fix just about anything except a broken heart and this time is free! They are asking that you bring a donation of dry goods  which will be donated to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Narrowsburg.

For more information about what you can possibly get repaired please email repaircafetusten@gmail.com.
