As October kicks off, the air turns crisp, and leaves start changing into brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Halloween decorations pop up everywhere—pumpkins on porches and spooky ghosts hanging from trees. 

It’s the perfect time for hot chocolate and scary movie marathons with friends. Plus, there’s excitement in the air for fall activities, like hayrides and apple picking. October is like the start of a fun adventure, where every day brings a new chance to enjoy the season!

Here are some events happening in and around our community:

On Saturday October 5th, JURNI is holding a Halloween Psychic & Craft Fair from 10 AM – 3 PM. There will be food vendors, homemade crafts, chair massages and numerous readers. Located at 420 Bernas Road in Cochecton. Call 845-932-5113 for more details.

Save the date, October 19, for a Penny Social at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church, sponsored by the Ladies Aid.

JURNI is offering yoga every Wednesday in September from 9:30 – 10:30 with a suggested donation of $10. Contact Satya at 631-834-8810 for more information or just drop in. Located at 420 Bernas Road, Cochecton, NY.

Mammo on the Move brings mammograms to you! Call 607-798-5723 to schedule an appointment. You do not have to be a Lourdes patient. Your results can be sent to the provider of your choice. We welcome insured and uninsured women. 

No referral needed. To find out if you are eligible for low- or no-cost screenings, call the Cancer Services Program at 607-778-3900. You are eligible to use the van for breast screening if: You are age 40 or older. You have no history of breast surgery, or you had a biopsy more than 1 year ago. You have no current breast problems or symptoms with benign results and no further problems.

Mark your calendars for the next home football game on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 PM. Show your school spirit and cheer on the Bulldogs!

On Saturday, October 26th beginning at 10 AM, the Cochecton Youth Commission will be holding its annual Fall Festival. If you would like to participate by setting up a trunk, please call Heather 845-796-6976
