Posted

Monticello opened its Tennis season earlier this month with a non-league home matchup against Pine Bush.

This marked the initial Tennis match for the Panthers on a brand-new resurfaced Tennis Courts. The courts feature a beautiful playing surface with 5 courts that Monticello will be utilizing for matches and practice.

After both teams warmed up, the Action started with Monticello welcoming Pine Bush going over ground rules for the match. Unfortunately, Monticello was down multiple players due to illness & not being eligible to participate.

The Panthers only had 5 student-athletes available to compete. This led to Monticello having to forfeit 2 singles matches and a doubles match. On the docket for the day were 3 singles matches and a doubles match.

Overall, on the day Pine Bush overpowered the young Panthers. In all 3 singles matches, and the lone doubles match. Pine Bush had more depth, talent, and skill level.

Not to be discouraged by a strong opening match opponent, Monti Tennis has plenty of room for growth and improvement. Pine Bush certainly seems like a team to contend with. They displayed strong consistent all-around play and shot making all day across the Tennis match.
