SULLIVAN COUNTY — Despite being the longest season of the year, winter sports seemed to have come and gone all too quickly. 

The reclassification made for some interesting new rivalries this year, and there were a lot of good basketball games for teams throughout Sullivan County this year.

One of the biggest question marks this year, the first-year merged squad of Livingston Manor and Roscoe, led to a playoff berth with a 4-2 division record. Their run was ultimately stopped short by Chapel Field, last year’s state championship runner up in Class D.

The Monticello Boys had a near-perfect record at home during the regular season, finishing 7-1 in The Pit. The Panthers earned a high enough seed in AA to host a playoff game, but lost a close rubber match against Valley Central.

The Sullivan West girls, despite having less players than many of their competitors, were a cohesive unit with multiple scoring threats. The Lady Bulldogs earned a playoff win at home before ultimately losing in the second round.

The Eldred girls defeated Livingston Manor twice in the regular season, earning them a Section IX Class D Championship.

Both the Tri-Valley boys and girls reached the Section Tournament but faced tough MHAL competition, leading to an early exit.

The Fallsburg boys traveled to Chester to take on the Hambletonians in the first round after a strong regular season. 

Young teams and young players found success and continued to build the program and grow as individuals throughout the season.
