It’s here! It’s here! The “Lion King” is playing at The Backyard Park (located at 21 Lovett Lane in Jeffersonville) tonight with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and the movie starting at dusk. This is a FREE fun-filled outdoor movie brought to you by the JEMS beautification group. There will be a professional face painter too! Light refreshments, including freshly popped popcorn will be available to purchase with all proceeds from the Concession stand and any donations going towards the JEMS group beautification projects for Jeffersonville. Please bring a blanket/chair to sit on – no pets are allowed, sorry.

The Friends of the Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL) Board are meeting on June 18th, 6:00 p.m. at the Delaware Free Branch in Callicoon.  Please attend the meeting if you are interested in joining the group or serving on the Board.  Member Bob Couture will provide a charcuterie board for the meeting. Join the group to find out what events are coming up.  Stop by any of the branches and pick up a membership form and check out their website for more information. The purpose of the Friends of the WSPL is to maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; focus public attention on the library; advocate on behalf of the library; stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services, including technology; receive and encourage gifts and donations; and support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community.  Members currently participate in book sales throughout the year and outreach events.  On Saturday, June 29th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is “Board Game Day” at their Jeffersonville Branch. Join them for fun games the last Saturday of the month in the Community Room. Games like UNO, chess, checkers, Cranium, Scrabble, Trivia Pursuit and more! You can also bring your own board/card games and share with others.

Remember to mark your calendars for the Jeff Jamboree Saturday, September 14th! The day includes a delicious pancake breakfast at the 1st Presbyterian Church, a Tractor Parade, the JEMS Annual Duck Race, live music by the “Little Sparrow” band, free rides with Butch and his beautiful draft horse team, vendors, a flea market, and much more! Looking for vendors and people interested in joining the Flea Market. FMI Contact: Debbie 845-701-3009 or debra.thony@gmail.com.

I am going to steal this from Facebook: When you pass road workers drive like they are your family, because they are someone’s. And, while I am on this type of topic, please watch out for the children and the school buses. The children are understandably excited about school almost coming to an end and may forget to watch for you when crossing the street.

Then there are the turtles, they cannot move faster than cars. Please watch out for them on the roads. Slow down and give them a chance to cross safely. If you do pick one up to move it, try to turn it in the same direction that it was traveling – it knows where it wants to go.

A very Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!
