The Sullivan West 4th graders walked down from their school in sweltering heat on Tuesday to plant their Marigold plants in the “Kids Garden” in front of the Peck’s Market. The flowerbed looks amazing and the JEMS beautification group is grateful for their help in making Main Street more beautiful! Also, many thanks to their teachers and helpers for making the trek too! Please  use one of the walkways when crossing between Main Street and the parking lot so their plants are not stepped on.

The JEMS group was very sorry the “Lion King” was canceled due to thunderstorms and rain at The Backyard Park. Their second movie “Dirty Dancing” will be playing on Friday, July 5th! Mark your calendars and hope the weather cooperates – remember this is an Outdoor movie...  Gates will open  at 6 p.m. and the movie starting at dusk. This is a FREE fun-filled outdoor movie brought to you by the JEMS beautification group. There will be light refreshments, including freshly popped popcorn available to purchase with all proceeds from the Concession stand and any donations(with our thanks) going towards the JEMS  beautification projects for Jeffersonville. Please bring a blanket/chair to sit on – no pets are allowed, sorry. Come to this famous movie and dance under the stars! Contact me with any questions.

Summer is here! At least it feels like it. The schools are all finishing up the school year and can you believe it? It is almost time to start thinking about Fall sports! Registration is open for the Red Dog Youth Football and Cheerleading. Open to all Sullivan County Elementary Children. Practices begin the first full week of August and run through October. Practice takes place in Callicoon Center with Home games at Sullivan West Elementary in Jeffersonville. Practice is 5 days a week in August but drops to 2 days a week once school begins. The new 5-second Rule important to know if you have a dog and take him or her for a walk in the hot weather. Place the back of your hand on the pavement and if you cannot hold it for 5 seconds, it is too hot to walk your dog on it. And, it only takes six minutes for a dog to overheat in a car. If your dog is not going inside at your destination, please leave them at home – that is better than maybe losing your best friend.

A ”Pasta Party” is being held Thursday, June 27th starting at 5 p.m. at Lorenzo’s (located at 5004 State Route 52 in Jeffersonville) They started their idea of a “Give Back Thursday” awhile ago and this one is a fundraiser to help Taylor Star Kehrley to be part of an amazing opportunity in the foreign exchange program, heading to France in September! The Menu is Penne Alla Vodka with chicken or spaghetti with meat sauce, includes a salad and bread too for $16.95/person or $62.95 for 4 people.
