LIVINGSTON MANOR — Student-athletes, coaches, family and friends gathered in the Livingston Manor gymnasium on June 11 to celebrate the spring season, and the athletic year in its entirety.
The Livingston Manor cafeteria staff catered the event with a fantastic dinner during the program, which recognized the many athletes from modified to varsity.
There was a fall/winter sports awards banquet earlier in the year, but Tuesday’s spring sports banquet also included awards for previous seasons, and overarching awards for the entire year.
Livingston Manor Principal Adam Larson kicked off the evening by welcoming everyone to the event and introducing Roscoe Principal Janice Phillips, who is retiring this year. Principal Larson presented Principal Phillips with her own “Varsity Letter” for the time she has dedicated to RCS.
Afterwards, Athletic Director David Eggleton took to the stage to introduce the various spring coaches. The coaches presented awards to their student-athletes from the spring before moving into the year-long awards.
Each of the presenting coaches talked about the athletes’ accolades on the field, but also focused on the responsibilities of the students beyond their sports. Each coach emphasized how intelligent, studious and community-oriented their players were, which was evidenced by the amount of Scholar Athletes this year, both individual and team.
The banquet ended after announcing four Athletes of the Year: Logan Park, Sarah Evans, Zaylee Cox and Aiden Johnston.
“In closing, we wish all of our students and athletes a relaxing and restful summer,” Eggleton said. “To our seniors, you will all be greatly missed. Thank you for being great leaders, role models and parts of our athletics programs.”
